Christmas decoration: Advent Calendar

Two weeks ago I bought myself a little present in one of my favorite stores; Dille & Kamille. Christmas is definitely my favourite holiday and therefore I want to make sure I enjoy it to the utmost!

That's why I bought this wooden advent calendar. It has little drawers for every day until Christmas! Every drawer has it's own painted design, which makes this advent house really unique and festive.

To make it even more fun I bought some 'Godis Julkola' chocolate flavoured sweets at IKEA and put one in every drawer.

Instead of putting sweets in the drawers you can put little presents (especially if you have kids), or other small items that relate to Christmas in the drawers. Waking up in december will be so much fun, because it means I get to open another drawer!

Christmas Decorations: White Branches

The past weekend has been exceedingly stormy, which resulted in loads of branches falling off the trees onto the roads. When I was walking through them I decided to take them home and do a DIY project with them.

As you can see these branches are about 50 centimeters (20 inches) long and are a little bit curvy. I would like to use these as christmas decorations to either put in a vase or lay them down on a table, with some added decorations.

Since I am totally into the Scandinavian design and house decorations I would like the branches to look a little bit more festive, but also a little lighter than the brown colour they are right now. So, with the help of some acrylic white paint, a brush and some water, I painted each of them white.

One coat of paint is enough to give them a white, almost silver-y, look. You don't have to paint them very precise, because we're going for a rustic look.

After they've dried for about one hour I put them in a glass vase and added some christmas hearts to make it even more festive!

OPI: Jade is the New Black

I am totally getting into the christmas and holiday spirit! I've been looking for some great 'Christmas inspired nailpolishes' and finaly found one at Sephora this week. This hunter green, almost a Christmas tree colour, nailpolish from OPI immediately cought my attention.

This color is opaque in one thick layer or two thinner layers. If you're in the mood for some creativity you could pair this color with a christmas-y red and create the perfect holiday look!
